AGILE in COTS Implementations(COMMERCIAL OFF THE SHELF) -SAP, ORACLE

Hello !
In the last 2 weeks had discussions with 2 Different Clients for Agile Implementations for COTS.

1. One was for large Scale of SAP Implementations.
2. One was for large Scale of Oracle Implementations.
There was a lot of misconceptions Agile will work well in COTS Implementations.
Most common points were :
1. SAP, ORACLE are highly desigend and process oriented Implementations which cannot be done in smaller Sprint - Agile Iterations.
2. Agile will not work for projects which needs to be configured for long durations of 8 months or so.
4. We have multiple teams across the globe and we will not be able to do a distributed way of Software delivery with the Agile Model.
5. we cannot do a complete big, huge ERP Implementation without the design frozed and taken like a Water Fall Model.
Had a detailed presentation on how Agile works in Various SW Implementations - Dotnet, Java, etc , ran thorugh the ROI being very much transparent and without no uncertainities.
After a clear detailed discussion on how to we go about with Agile in COTS, both the customers were satisfied, their Mindset change happened.

Both the customers have now shown Green for Agile Adoptions.

Will soon post on the Various points on how the Adoption Moves on!

First win with COTS Customers!!!

  3. Hi SenthilVel,

I have recently joined as a Agile coach and I have been collecting information about how to transition a SAP implementation using Scrum.

What I am mostly hearing is SAP cant work in Scrum framework. Even I have received similar concerns like how:
Highly designed and process oriented SAP Implementation will be handled & delivered in Sprints?
How Agile will work & support a project which needs longer duration to complete?
How multiple teams across the globe will be able to do a distributed way of Software delivery with the Agile Model?
How to complete a ERP Implementation without the design being frozen, as done in Waterfall?

Could you please share your valuable inputs or any process that you have designed to address these concerns.

    Thanks in advance,
    Soma.

  4. Most American highschool students are required to find out a far off language before graduating. Many will learn Spanish, counting on where they reside within the country, while others will learn French if living near the Canadian border. However, there are many foreign languages that are taught in schools that students do not have the chance to use in world situations like German, Italian, and Russian. a visit to a far off country where these languages are spoken in day to day life provides the chance to practice and truly appreciate the language they learned while in an American classroom.
